The diet was designed to be highly-digestible, rich in omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, and to contain novel palatable vegetable and fruit sources of nutrients. The diet is moderate in protein and in fat. However, the fat content is lower than in many other OTC salmon diets based on the leaner salmon fillets used in preparation of the diet. It is appropriate for puppies, and the elevated DHA levels may help cognitive performance. Sweet potato and sushi rice are low-residue (low-fiber) sources of carbohydrates. Sesame oil and coconut aminos are added to maintain a normal skin barrier.

Salmon Fillet: High-quality protein best known for its omega-3 fatty acid content. Omega 3 fatty acids support brain function as well as skin/coat health. Salmon is also a very good source of vitamin B12 and selenium.

Sweet Potato: Complex carbohydrate known for its rich vitamin A content also provides dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin B6, potassium, manganese and iron.

Sushi Rice: This source of complex carbohydrate is also a good source of folate, manganese and selenium while being easily digestible and well tolerated even by sensitive dogs.

Cucumber: Cucumber is an excellent source of Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and potassium.

Eggplant: Good source of vitamin C, vitamin K and copper to name a few.

Papaya: Dubbed "fruit of the angels" by Christopher Columbus, this fruit is best know for contain the enzyme papain that aids the digestion of proteins. Also a very good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and folate.

Banana: While providing simple carbohydrates and potassium, bananas are also rich sources of Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, and magnesium.

Sesame Oil: Provides mono and polyunsaturated fats that support the epidermal barrier and promote healthy skin and a shinier coat. Also a good source of vitamin K.

Kombu: Kombu is an edible kelp which provides iodine, calcium, iron and fiber.

Coconut Aminos: This naturally fermented product is made blending only raw coconut sap with sea salt. It offers a host of easily digestible amino acids, B-vitamins, and trace minerals from a unique, sustainable source.

Turmeric: Contains orange pigment called curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. Turmeric also provides manganese, iron, and vitamin B6.
